I think this is one of the most inspiring and organic sound manglers out there & wish alesis had developed it (I sent a long list of ideas, they wrote back saying they had no plans to). I've found out how the inside looks and basically, you can't alter the round section, so it can't be refitted into any smaller unit. I had the idea of attaching the sensors to the guitar and connecting to the main body via an extra cable.

I got one of these recently and it's great fun, I use it before my looper to mangle sound going into the loop. Much fun

Weird - use it to mangle the sound coming *out* of the looper - allows me to get more "mileage" from the loop.

I did try to make a schematic for switching it pre & post loop

I too use it for post-loop mangling, but I like the thought of being able to switch it pre- or -post.

I feel another little project coming on, shouldn't be too difficult (hopefully more successful than yesterdays 'project' - attempting to solder a replacement backup battery into my QY20).

maybe it's because I'm a synthesist, but I much prefer to use it to shape the sounds going into the loop, I guess it might be more difficult to play guitar whilst wiggling your hand over it

Good point, playing guitar one handed can be tricky. But I do have two other loop devices prior to going into the echoplex, so post- these (M9 and Korg Minichaos) and pre- echoplex is still an option.
