Just for a bit of fun, bought one of these off e-bay for a laugh (b-stock, £44 inc.)
Nice squelchy analogue-sounding filter.
Here's the lowdown. Stereo ins and out on 1/4" jacks (although the effect isn't stereo, it will retain a stereo image fed through it). Choice of LP, HP, BP or bandstop filters. Can be modulated by (1) inbuilt triangle LFO (rate knob or tap-tempo selection), (2) random sample and hold, (3) repeating 16 step S+H type patterns (randomly generated each time reset button is pressed), (4) input trigger (decays at rate set by 'rate' control), (5) input waveform envelope (needs a highish signal to work this).
5 knobs - I/P level trim, Filter Frequency (marked 'Phreeq'), Regeneration (resonance), rate (LFO rate, or decay rate, depending on mode), Depth.
6 buttons - filter type select, modulation type select, steep (increases the resonance), reset mod (re-triggers the random pattern, or re-triggers if in triggered mode), bypass.
By setting the depth control to zero, you can use the phreeq control to manually control the cutoff frequency.
I have mine after my RC20 to tweak the OP from that, but as every RC20 owner who uses it in an FX send will know, it's impossible to get a wet only OP from the Boss, so I have to ensure that the bypass is on when I'm not actively tweaking, otherwise loads of my input also gets 'Philtred'.
Visit the alesis web site for pic and manual.
Great fun (I'm easily pleased though!).
