Seems like you are going to need to recruit a few more people to this board for it to succeed.

Seems like you are going to need to recruit a few more people to this board for it to succeed. Any bright ideas? I should perhaps plug it on the LD mailing list, but there are usually howls of complaint if I use the F word. All it *really* needs is for everyone who has subscribed to post once a week or so, but the tendancy to "lurk" seems strong in subscribers. It would also help if poeple could link to this site from their music pages?

Any bright ideas? I should perhaps plug it on the LD mailing list, but there are usually howls of complaint if I use the F word. I don't think that there's an objection to existance of forums( forii?) on LD, just that most people think a mailing list works better. I can't see there'll be an outcry if you avoid debate about the relative merits of the 2 systems. You could always check the LD archive for "forum supporters" and mail them individually. Actually, if this forum succeeds, it does create the possibility of weakening the community of loopers (ie us guys) who are centered around LD. I'm sure that's the last thing you want. Might there be steps to take to avoid this? Incidently, I'm currently using the "view last 10 messages" function to read the forum, that's the quickest way to keep up to date (....just like a mailing list ;-)

I wouldn't want to take away the LD mailing list, but personally, I like forums better. I've tried the mailing list as a digest and as individual messages, but in both cases, I find it difficult for me to follow threads because the messages are in my mail box and not up on a forum. I suspect that there must be others that feel the same way.
Personally, I like to think that both the forum and the mailing list can both thrive. For business reasons, I need to keep an eye out on LD, but I would like to see this board gain some momentum.

hi Bob, Doesn't your email browser offer you the ability to browse by thread? Works quite well. (...most of the time)

I much prefer fora to mailing lists, I like the added organisation that you get with a forum
I've never been on LD, is it worth joining?

I've never been on LD, is it worth joining? Depends how much free time you have - I use the daily digest version and get 14-20 messages a day that way. There's good stuff in there, but it sure needs filtering out. Quite agree about forums.

I've never been on LD, is it worth joining? Best place for asking questions about looping and loop tech, and keeping up to date with the latest hardware. ...well ok Nick..."one of the best places". Also it's the meeting place for an international network of loopers. Don't sign up unless you're ready to set up an email filter to send to a folder :-) ...and don't use the digest version, that takes away the threading.

Strangely, though I like looping and loop tech I've never really thought of myself as a looper

It would also help if poeple could link to this site from their music pages? I didn't even know about this and I've been on and off the LD mailing list for a long, long time! Must have started while I was taking a hiatus. I like this type of forum a lot more than a mailing list as I can actively go to what I want instead of passively getting everything and having to delete what I'm not interested in. I'll give it a plug on the LD mailing list, as I'm quite used to howls and complaints.

Hey have you guys ever thought about making this a mailing list? I think those work better.... Ironically, this forum came about because I couldn't easily deal with the amount of mail that the loopers delight mailing list kicks out. I'm still subbed to them, but find it hard work. It's all personal preference really, but forums do it for me.

I'd suggest that anyone interested in live looping enough to want to be part of an internation "community" of live loopers to sign up to the Looper's Delght mailing list. www.loopers-delight.com/list/LoopList.htmlWhatever you do, don't sign up for the (pointless) Digest version, but be prepared to set up a filter going to a folder in your email browser as there's a lot of mails. (or use gmail) ...and yes, I do mention this forum on LD quite frequently, so it seems healthy to do the reciprocal. Users of this forum should be sure to check the "Last 20 Posts" feature regularly. (Nick, can this be upped if traffic increases?)
