Hello fellow loopers!
I've just joined the forum, I thought I'd say hi and introduce myself.
I'm from Finland. I play guitar (mostly) and have come to looping by way of Bill Frisell, David Torn, Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp et al. I have found the most natural applications of looping to lie in the more abstract areas of music I play (ambient, experimental... what ever you want to call it).
I also have an intrest in acoustic music, bluegrass, country and folk. Thus far this has remained quite separate from my looping intrests. Apples and oranges, really.
Anyway, I'm happy to be a member of this board and look forward to some good discussions here.

Welcome Claire, I just wanted to say hi on behalf of the international live looping community and invite you to consider coming to California next October to perform at the Y2K12 International Live Looping Festival (held annually and in our 12 year). Last year for our 10th anniversary we had 70 artists from 17 countries come perform. It's an amazing experience: as much a live looping convention as a live looping festival and most people who attend end up being very inspired and turned on about all the live looping creativity they witness and the amazing people they have met.
Also, I don't know if you know him or not, but a dear friend of mine, Miro Mantere (MIR-O), is a fellow live looping artist/multi-instrumentalist and the organizer of the 1st Live Looping Festival in Helsinki. He lives in Parvoe, just outside of Helsinki and is a really wonderful resource and experienced live looper. If you don't know him already, I'd love to introduce you to him formally. Just write to me off of this group at looppool@cruzio.com
Do the same and put CLAIRE FONTAINE: Y2K12 LOOPFEST in the subject line in capital letters and I'll send you more info about the looping festival next October and what it entails to perform at it.
Cheers and glad to meet you,
Rick Walker founder/director Y2K Live Looping Festivals www.y2kloopfest.com
