iirc, the first thing you need to do is set up your audio device (configuration>audio device), then do the latency calibration (instructions found within user manual on mobius website). You've already worked out how to assign functions to the keyboard, although 'Play' is probably not really neccesary! (probably useful for playing loaded samples, I guess). You just need to hit record, then overdub, then you're away! It does have a steepish learning curve to get the full benefits, but it's worth it.

Ah, I've never tried loading samples into Mobius, so I didn't know about that.

Ah, I've never tried loading samples into Mobius, so I didn't know about that. It may be a live oriented package, but I just wanted to load up a few files & play with them before worrying about recording... Gonna have a play with this www.ambiloop.com/index.html

I don't check in here very often so it looks like you've moved on, but for the sake of future generations... After you load a pre-recorded loop (or project containing loops) the loop is placed in a state known as a "pause mute". To make it play you need to unmute it in various ways, the Play function is one. Mobius isn't really designed as a static loop player, you can do it but the steps you take will be relatively non-obvious. From your description it sounds like you didn't select an audio device. There isn't anything Mobius can do if you don't select a device (preferably ASIO). You can push buttons and keys but nothing will happen.

I've been using a couple of EDP for a while so Mobius felt pretty straightforward when I started. I did put time in to set up my midi controls as I wanted them which is well worth it and really opens up the possibilites of this splendid piece of software.

One big advantage of Mobius is the ability to script various functions together. The possiblilties are extensive.
I've hardly scratched the surface of it.
