look here for interesting possibilities for recording and looping
www.propellerheads.se/products/record/index.cfm
I used Reason for six years on a daily basis.
the problem that I had was integration of the program with
recorded data
there is Recycle for creating REX II files that can of coarse be used in Reason.
Reason is a very powerful looping tool (no it isn't just for techo-trance gabba-house music.)
the question is if I use a piece of dumb hardware using a computer chip with very limited options and abilities as opposed to a program in a smart piece of hardware( a computer) which is real looping dumb hardware ,smart software in a computer and or both.
any way, lets say reason and recycle are not real looping, faux looping if you will.
how will the listener know how the "loopoogism" coming out of the speaker was made, composed, created?
of coarse it's cheating looping is cheating that's why it's so much fun i.e. cheating is fun! ;D or I wouldn't do it.
So back to RECORD..... Now Reason is fully integrated into Record.
Me? I have no ethics or values, every thing is disposable and means nothing any way, so using this or that method or another of several combined methods to achieve my ends only to find out how incredibly stupid my COOL IDEA is, having manifested it, using any means of documentation and repeating that documentation is enlightening about something I'd rather not comment on what!
I never really cared how Krzysztof Penderecki did what he did, I just liked listening to it. "THE ENTOMBMENT OF CHRIST" breaks a ton of rules and bends even more all to good effect
as an American General said before fire bombing Tokyo,
"If we lose the war we will be tried as war criminals"
Looping is not fire bombing or war crimes and "cheating at looping makes no harm hence no foul.
I am addressing the non-software bias of "REAL MUSICIANS THAT PLAY REAL INSTRUMENTS" and only play through tube amps and analog pedals and detest "MOUSE MUSIC"
We forget that Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew played through JC 120 amps and both are known for their taste and tone. Joe Pass and Jim hall both used Polytone amps
rant rant rant rant
So check it out, having used both hardware instrument and software....when your mini moog "D" blows up in software land you just reboot your computer
