I found an Alesis MMT-8 multitrack Midi sequencer. on line, now it is mine and in my greedy clutches . ha-cha! Step Enter and Edit, filter.
Quantize can be turned off I believe the 348th notes is the clock divisions of a 1/2 note, so the timing of the sequencer is subtle enough to record my ever so sensitive feel for the pocket. (smirk)
I have recorded some loopy drones, bass parts, using my antiquated Alesis Nano bass
which has some interesting sustained timbres for the synth sounds. My digital recorder can sync via midi out and the sequencer locks to it perfectly
I want to learn how to program synth patch changes and my midi controllable Fx's units to enhance the flavor of loops having done it in Reason
I used Reason for 6 years for about 6 to 8 hours most days and became very familar with the automated aspects of the program. I'd create a looped part then start automating the synth changes, and the processing changes, morphing from one patch to another in the same synth.
I am very much into the notion of the music box. an electronic music box.
sequencing?
the new product from Propellerheads RECORD allows recording parts slower to compliment my technical limitations then speeding it up to the right tempo and the part, though it plays at a varied tempo is "pitch perfect with out sonic artifacts"
we'll see about that ..... Reason integrates into Record allowing all the cool stuff one can do with Reason and have recorded parts, say vocals .guitar solos ,what ever. or visa versa
as these kinds of advances take place in the world of bleeding edge computer music software the old discarded stuff becomes much cheaper on the used market, that is before someone digs up their 808 or 303 and wants $1,500.00 dollars for it
I must admit this activity is a lot more entertaining than sitting in front of the box
hypnotized and insulted
