I use the Boss BR1200. I have had no problems with it at all. I switched from another really beautiful digital recorder because I could not wrap my dyslexia around the interface. I gave it to the unitarian church for their music program. I find the Boss interface easy to use and well laid out. the problems of recording with computer recording programs (cpu usage) when heavily processing tracks crash! was something that I felt freeze up led me to a less versatile but more stable platform.
Boss has included enough functions and options to allow me to focus on playing and 'being creating" rather than focusing mainly on operating the recorder and yes when doing this kind of creating recording work one must wear several hats(I like comfortable hats)
A comparative pause: 1975 TEAC A-3440 4CH Reel to Reel street price $3500.00. No mixer no meter bridge no reel to reel tape, no processors (compression, reverb et al) weight really heavy. Sound quality no bouncing ok 2009 Br1200 $900.00 light weight, mixer, fx's cd burner, many computer style editing options , 2 bounces: sound very good.
I am glad that I bought this piece of gear.if it were lost/stolen I would replace it.
