Anyone using the channels feature on the rack JM (with Sellon chip upgrade)? I've just discovered it and feel like I only know a fraction of the potential of this beast.

Right, that's the "special" Rom. (there's also an Enhancement ROM with just a few more features than the regular rom). Only person I know who uses that is bass player Max Valentino. Known bugs, locks up sometimes with midi control. Can go into reverse, but trying to return to forwards causes crash. I'm wondering if Bob will ever finish this software, in which case I'll get it for my JamMan How come you have it?

Bought it years ago so I could start off a loop in (errr) loop mode, then midi switch to delay mode to allow the loop to fade as I altered it. I prefer to do all my looping in "frozen delay" mode, seems much more natural. It's never glitched even once on me. My only JM problem was trying to fit an eeprom - I nearly buggered the thing with hamfisted soldering and gave up. However, I've now figured out how to record two parallel loops (channels) and am finding life hard to develop them normally. for example do a loop on channel 1 do a loop on chennel 2 switch back to channel 1 and try overdub, but it goes onto channel 2. Ideally I'd like to use switches to mute/unmute channels, but that would mean going into stompbox mode (I can do, but it's extra faff) The start/stop loop works on all channels at once. The manual is OK, but doesn't give a step by step of recording and editing 2 parallel loops. What I'd love is a JM/FCB sysex file from someone who know's what they are doing Will post on the FCB forum.

What I'd love is a JM/FCB sysex file from someone who know's what they are doing I wouldn't be surprised if no-one out there has that setup. What you have is a chip from somewhere along a development path that was eventually abandoned, from Bob's site it looks like the current version of the Rom is a complete re-write. Somewhere on the site he explains that there's a number of different versions of the Rom out there, and that he doesn't remember which features are implemented in which version. It's possible you just found a bug in the software, if the (carefully read) manual says you should be overdubbing on ch1 and you aren't then that's likely the case. Likely the way forward is to just experiment to find out what your version of the software is capable of, then devise ways to work within the limitations. It may be possible to get a new Rom from Bob that does what you want, although his website looks a bit dead he does respond to email.

I'm looking for a quart from a pint pot and it ain't gonna happen. Another looper made the sensible suggestion of "buy a laptop". It makes all kinds of sense, since I use ableton already. I wonder what a reasonable spec might be? Have launched a thread on this...
